Diss Mere is a peaceful six-acre lake right in the centre of Diss — one of the most popular places to visit in the town and just a short walk from Park Hotel Diss. Fed by natural springs, the Mere has shaped the town around it for centuries.
A lake at the heart of the town
The Mere is unusually deep for its size and is a striking natural feature in the middle of a busy market town. A fountain plays out on the water, and the surrounding paths make for a gentle, level stroll. Benches dot the edge, so it’s an easy spot to sit and watch the world — and the wildfowl — go by.
Wildlife and photography
Ducks, swans and other waterfowl gather around the Mere year-round, making it a favourite with families and photographers. The reflections of the surrounding buildings and trees are especially lovely in the early morning and at golden hour.
Easy to reach on foot
Diss Mere is roughly half a mile from the hotel — an easy, flat walk through the town centre. It pairs naturally with a wander around the independent shops, cafés and the historic St Mary’s Church nearby.
