Norwich Castle is one of the finest Norman buildings in England — a great stone keep set high above the city, now home to a museum and art gallery. It’s a rewarding day out from Park Hotel Diss, easily reached by train or car.
A Norman keep and museum
The castle keep dates from the 12th century and has been carefully restored to tell the story of its royal origins. Inside, the museum houses galleries covering archaeology, natural history, fine art and Norfolk’s past, making it a varied visit for all ages.
In the heart of Norwich
The castle sits at the centre of Norwich, surrounded by the city’s shops, markets, lanes and cathedral. It’s easy to combine a visit with the rest of the city, and Norwich is around 30 minutes by direct train from Diss.
